Information of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate to them users of the online service " iCloud"To attempt to capture personal data by sending fraudulent short messages to mobile telephony
Short messages ( SMS ) show as the sender the Customer Support of the company it manages (iCloud) and urge recipients to follow a misleading e-mail address for allegedly locating a lost electronic device.
The Greek Police's Electronic Crime Investigation Directorate informs internet users that an attempt has been identified to capture and steal phishing data through SMS messages for the Internet service iCloud.
In particular, the disputed messages display as Customer the Customer Support of the company that manages the particular web service while prompting the recipients to follow an e-mail address referring to a website for allegedly locating a lost electronic device.
On the said webpage, they are asked to enter the data login they use in that service in order to complete the device discovery process.
Once the recipient responds, their passwords are captured by the perpetrators, who then gain access to their personal data stored in iCloud (contacts, photos, videos, passwords, notes etc.).
Please note that these messages deserve great attention because the websites to which their recipient refers are using logos of the iCloud administration company and are extremely plausible.
Users who receive such messages are encouraged not to choose the proposed hyperlinks, not to respond to them, not to register or send personal data.
