With Sony's new move, you no longer have to buy a PlayStation 4 to play platform games: Yes Sony today announced that it will offer PS4 game titles through PlayStation Now. This means that you will be able to play PS4 games on your PC.
If you do not know PlayStation Now is a cloud service that costs $ 20 per month and offers streaming games, just does Netflix with videos. The service also works from PS4 and from your computer.
The service has so far offered only PS3 games, which was quite handy for game titles that had a compatibility problem with the new PS4 console and the Xbox One platform.
For example, suppose you have an Xbox One console but want to play PS4 games, such as Horizon Zero Dawn or Uncharted 4. Now with 20 dollars you can play the game on your PC. Sure, it will not be the same as playing it with a real console.
For Sony, this means that there may be more players who may not have any other way to play games today, and possibly force some of them to buy the PlayStation.
Microsoft, meanwhile, has a slightly different approach. The company recently announced a $ 10 dollar service called Game Pass and allows users to download games on their consoles instead of streaming out of the cloud.
At the moment, we do not know much about PS4 games on PlayStation Now, such as what resolution to support, or what games Sony will release.
