The SparkyLinux is a lightweight, fast and simple Linux distribution designed for old and new computers. Comes with tons of desktops: Budgie, Enlightenment, JWM, KDE Plasma, LXDE, LXQt, MATE, Openbox, Xfce and CLI i.e. supports command line management like any other Linux. For desktop manager the distribution uses LightDM.
SparkyLinux is based on the Debian GNU / Linux trial version. The Debian testing (tested) version includes all packages (programs) that are not yet fairly stable and still need control.
This version is not intended for use on servers or any computer that provides critical services. However, many are using it because the programs it contains are more recent.
As is understood from the above, SparkyLinux is a rolling (distribution) distribution that contains all the latest software and kernel packages. As a rolling distribution, it does not need to be reinstalled as it will update itself. So if you do not show some instability from the wrong actions, usually new users will not need another installation, and will always be updated to the latest version.
The Polish project developers have recently announced the new version of SparkyLinux 4.5 "Tyche" released in LXDE, LXQt, KDE, MATE and Xfce flavors.
The new version comes with Linux kernel 4.8.7 as default while 4.8.12-sparky is already available στο Sparky ‘unstable' repo. Προστέθηκε support for 'exfat' file systems and comes with updated applications: Firefox 45.5.0 ESR and Firefox 50.0.2 are available in the repos, Icedove 45.4 and Thunderbird 45.5.1 are available in the repos, along with LibreOffice 5.2.3-rc1.
