According to user reports, Spotify automatically installs and runs on system startup, prompting users to sign in to accounts or sign up for new accounts.
According to user reports on Twitter, the Reddit and other sites, the Spotify app appeared on Windows devices without the system user doing anything.
Many reported that the app appeared installed after installing a recent OS update. Of course there are many who have left negative reviews on the Microsoft Store, stating that they did not want the app to be installed.
At the moment, neither Microsoft nor Spotify have reported anything on the matter.
Whether this is a deliberate move (most likely) or a bug remains to be seen. Windows has no options to prevent the automatic installation of Apps promoted by Microsoft.
