Another proof that the Google he wants to be everywhere. Street View has taken the plunge and as of today, you can see pictures from the world's oceans.
The official announcement will take place on the World Oceans Day on June 8.
The new project of Street View presents the first fruits of a four-year partnership between Google and the XL Catlin Seaview Survey, NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries and the Chagos Conservation Trust.
The idea is not only to present us dolphins, but also to highlight the damage that people have caused in underwater ecosystems.
The company says:
“Home to most life on Earth, the ocean acts as a life support system, controlling everything from weather and rainfall to the oxygen we breathe. However, despite the ocean's defining importance, the ocean is changing rapidly because of it climaticof change, pollution and overfishing…”
Using GPS, Google marks photos so we can create a timeline with images that will depict the collapse of underwater ecosystems.
This does not mean you will not see beautiful submarine landscapes that most of us would normally never see.
