Microsoft today announced a new Surface device: the Surface Laptop. The device had of course been "leaked" since last night, but Microsoft's Panos Panay at the event held by the company in New York officially revealed it today. This is a 13,5-inch laptop designed to run on the new operating system Windows 10 S the company's.
Panos Panay, head of Microsoft's new device division, said the company created the new laptop, thinking about prospective students finishing with the Lyceum.
The new Microsoft laptop uses an Alcantara keyboard made of "fabric", like the keyboard of the premium Surface Pro 4, which has a path of 1,5 mm for the backlit keys. A video teaser of the device shows that it is clearly designed to be a high-tech device to promote the new Windows 10 S operating system.

Surface Laptop is a clamshell device, a true laptop, unlike Surface Book 2 on 1. Traditionally, Panos Panay gave the Surface Laptop to one of the public to show off his new burgundy color.
Surface Laptop will come in four colors: platinum, burgundy, blue cobalt and gold graphite and will weigh less than 3 pounds.
Microsoft uses a 13,5-inch PixelSense display with a 3: 2 aspect ratio. "It's the thinnest LDC touchscreen model ever created and installed on a laptop," says Panay, with a total of 3,4 million pixels. The screen even supports Microsoft Surface Pen, which lets you draw on the screen.
Microsoft uses the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and claims that its lifespan battery it will be up to 14,5 hours. Microsoft claims that the Surface Laptop is faster than the i7 MacBook Pro and that it will have "longer life than any MacBook Air on the market today."
There are no grates or holes from speakers and Microsoft has integrated the speakers below the keyboard so the sound comes from your fingers.
Microsoft launchesorders for the Surface Laptop today, and its prices start at $ 999 for the Core i5 version with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. The Surface Laptop will start shipping on June 15th.
