Η intelligence can now give you the summary of a long text so that you don't have to read the whole text but only its main points.

This text could be a web page or even a pdf document. Their comprehensive summary can also be done through the Edge browser with the help of Copilot. See how.

To summarize a text whether it's a PDF or just a web page, Copilot needs to have access to its text. This means that the PDF must have selectable text, not scanned photos. The quality of the abstract depends on how comprehensive, well-formed and recognizable the text is.

So open the Microsoft Edge browser, go to the website you are interested in to summarize its content or simply view through Edge the pdf file you want to get its summary.

Then open it Copilot doing on the Copilot icon from the top right corner of Edge. You will see a button titled “Create Summary Page”. Click on it.

Here you can also choose different styles for the display mode of Copilot, such as Creative, Balanced and Precise.

Copilot will start listing you with a summary of the text. After he finishes you can ask him any further questions to get more about the document. Copilot also suggests some follow-up questions you might have based on what's written in the text.

In our tests, we found that while Copilot creates summaries of small documents and PDFs, ideally around 20-40 pages, and gives detailed answers to follow-up questions, it doesn't work well with larger documents like books.

We tested a 150 page book. The returned by Copilot were either partially from the internet or just very superficial descriptions.

Also in Copilot you cannot directly upload documents such as (not even in Copilot Pro). However, you can open the documents in s Microsoft Edge that includes Copilot to summarize, analyze, or answer questions related to the document. The feature can only be used in Microsoft Edge for Windows PCs, unlike ChatGPT.

Copilot Pro does not have extensions like ChatGPT Pro. It only has a few plugins and custom GPTs designed for specific purposes, but it doesn't come with the ability to use third-party extensions or store extensions such as ChatGPT. However, Copilot Pro extends the functionality of Copilot to all Microsoft products, such as MS , OneDrive, Office 365 and more.
