Wallpaper for Android can ruin your phone

This is a bug that you do not see every day. Setting a simple image as wallpaper on your Android phone can really ruin the device, pushing it into an infinite reboot loop, which will eventually force you to do a full reset.

The specific image that crashes Androids shared on Twitter by Ice Universe , who explained that the wallpaper error affects Samsung phones. However, it seems that other models can be affected.

At this point, everything seems to be related to the color profile used by the image, which Android cannot read correctly, and ultimately encounters a fatal error and causes the device to reboot. It is not yet clear why some phones are affected, and others are not.

It is also quite interesting that the error is not new, but so far it has remained largely unexplored, since no one paid attention to it. A post to Google IssueTracker reveals that the problem was first reported in March 2018, more than two years ago, but a fix has not yet been released.

Phones running Android 11 will not be affected by the error, as they automatically convert unsupported color space to sRGB and support a wider range of colors.

Google has never acknowledged this as a bug, so the best suggestion is to avoid setting this image as wallpaper on your phone. Enough they've already had it because they didn't think it was possible, so if you really want to try it, at least don't do it on your main phone, and definitely not without making a backup first.

But if you want to play and stick your mobile then the only way to appears to be a full factory reset. Although some say they have managed to boot their device into safe mode and then set a different image as wallpaper.

It goes without saying that we have not attached the image to this article, for obvious reasons, although you can see a screenshot s in Ice Universe's tweet, which also includes a thumbnail of the wallpaper.
