You remember it Silk Road; The Dark Web is an “underground” Internet, where you can buy almost anything: drugs, weapons, fake documents or hire assassins. Thanks to a survey by IntSights Research Group, we know something else about the "dark" web.
The company noticed a team called "TeamZero" trying to sell licenses (yes, licenses) for a darknet shopping software.
According to Ido Wulkan, an Insights research writer, the software is sold for 4.500 dollars in bitcoin and buyers will have to make major modifications to make it stand out from the others.
The rise of platform-as-a-service (PaaS) markets in darknet should not be surprising. The closure of Silk Road by the US authorities created an incredible gap in the market and gave opportunities for new players to try their luck like Ross Ulbricht.
But these new ones are worrying about authorities, for many different reasons.
First, it de-centralizes the market. A fragmented market makes it more difficult to identify markets and illegal sales by the authorities.
It also means that if law enforcement authorities are able to close an illegal market, there will soon be others.
Above all, however, it turns out that the conviction of Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht failed to prevent others from engaging in "sports.
Recall that Ulbricht's sentence was not short (a life sentence without the right to appeal) and yet there are still too many markets and soon more will start.
