It seems that the day is approaching when we will see the electric on the streets truck Semi by Tesla, as the company just opened its pre-orders in the United States, Canada Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom.
In April 2022, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the Semi electric truck will hit the streets in 2023. And it seems that this time things are really set for 2023, as the company has opened its platform so that customers can book for 17.000 euros. The exact release date remains a mystery.
As you can see from his photo Tesla website, the company accepts pre-orders for Semi and customers can book for € 4.000 (Dutch price whose currency is euro). However, you will need to send an additional € 13.000 (or a total of € 17.000) within ten days to complete the booking.
Along with the booking system, Tesla also shared more information for two Semi models. The company initially plans to launch two variants, one with a range of 475 kilometers for €130.000 and a secondary option for €150.000 that can travel nearly 800 kilometers on a single charge. It makes sense for users at these prices to prefer the long-range model.
Tesla says the Semi is mostly a maintenance-free vehicle, and owners could save about $ 200.000 every two years on fuel and maintenance alone, compared to traditional semi-trucks. This means that the truck could almost depreciate after two years.
The Tesla Semi truck is powered by four electric motors in the rear axle and the company estimates that it will be able to tow up to 36 tons of cargo.
As the weather approaches we expect to learn more details about the Tesla Semi.
