February 11 is an important day in the fight against mass surveillance implemented by the US secret services globally. A broad alliance of activists join forces to protest the NSA's unacceptable actions.
The day was called “The Day We Fight Back"And it's essentially a day of protest. The protest was announced a month ago, on the eve of the anniversary of the activist's death Aaron Swartz.
Protests will focus on mass espionage, celebrate it μνήμη of Swartz and to commemorate the anniversary of the 2012 SOPA online blackout.
The list of participants in “The Day We Fight Back” protest includes the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Fight for the Future, Free Press, Reddit, Mozilla, Tumblr and many others.
So far, more than 5.000 websites have registered for the protests that will start tomorrow. Protest sites will display a special banner urging visitors to contact Congress, asking them to oppose recent bills that allow the NSA to operate unhindered.
