The latest version of the messaging client from Mozilla subsidiary MZLA has a number of useful new features.

Thunderbird 147.0 follows on from Thunderbird 139 in May, but it's not the same. When Firefox and Thunderbird 138 were released, Thunderbird joined Firefox's monthly release schedule in February.

So now, for Thunderbird, as for its sister browser, there are two different and separate release channels: the ESR channel with slower (fewer) releases, which last about a year and only receive security fixes instead of new features, and the regular release channel , which is recommended by MZLA.

New versions are released approximately every four weeks, or perhaps faster if there are urgent bugs or security issues.
