Canonical announced today that the Ubuntu 19.04 operating system will reach the end of its life this month, on January 23, urging all users to upgrade to Ubuntu 19.10.
The Ubuntu 19.04 has been released, nine months ago, on April 18, 2019, and was named by Canonical as "Disco Dingo". It is the first Ubuntu version to be released with a Linux 5.x kernel. It also includes the GNOME 3.32 desktop interface, a new theme for icons and various desktop enhancements.
From January 23, Canonical will no longer release software updates and security updates for Ubuntu 19.04, which means users will need to consider upgrading to Ubuntu 19.10 (Eoan Ermine).
And Canonical encourages all Ubuntu 19.04 users to upgrade their installations, as well as any of the other supported operating systems such as Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, etc., to the latest Ubuntu 19.10, following upgrade instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EoanUpgrades.
For best results and performance, it is recommended that you do a new installation of 19.05. But do not forget to back up your most important files before upgrading. And don't forget to upgrade your operating system before January 23, 2020.
