Canonical announced today that the operating Ubuntu 19.04 will reach end of life this month, on January 23, prompting all users to upgrade to .

Ubuntu 19.04

The Ubuntu 19.04 has been released, nine months ago, on April 18, 2019, and was named by Canonical as "Disco Dingo". It is the first Ubuntu version to be released with a Linux 5.x kernel. It also includes the GNOME 3.32 desktop interface, a new theme for icons and various desktop enhancements.

As of January 23rd, Canonical will no longer issue software updates and updates for Ubuntu 19.04, which means users should consider upgrading to Ubuntu 19.10 (Eoan Ermine).

And Canonical encourages all Ubuntu 19.04 users to upgrade their installations, as well as any of the other supported operating systems such as Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, etc., to the latest Ubuntu 19.10, following upgrade instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EoanUpgrades.

For best results and performance, it is recommended that you do a new installation of 19.05. But do not forget to back up your most important files before upgrading. And don't forget to upgrade your operating system before January 23, 2020.
