Tractica: It seems inevitable that the wearable technology that we see today, with its various biometric sensors, will begin to move from our wrists to various other parts of our body. Sensors will start appearing in our clothes.
A company research believes this change will occur before the end of the decade. A new study by Tractics reports that consumers will buy more than 10 million pieces of smart clothing annually from 2020. As expected with the speeds of technological development ...
Biosensing clothing, for the most part, has been limited to the athletic look. Sports enthusiasts, using smart sensors in T-shirts, shorts, sports bras and socks can have biometric data on muscle activity, breathing rate, or even heart activity.
All the data being monitored today by itness bands or smartwatches. In the coming years, smart clothes will start to look less like sports equipment and more like street tools.
Some time ago sales of smart clothes were minimal. OR Tractics reports that just 140.000 smart clothes created 2013, and all were sports gear.
"The final computer wearable is a piece of smart clothing that can be worn as a garment or as a body sensor that can monitor and measure specific vital signs,” said Tractica Research Director Aditya Kaul.
"Both of these categories of devices are designed to integrate harmoniously with the daily lives of users."
