We already know that NSA and her British counterparts from GCHQ they are busy watching as many as they can. However, it seems that, beyond all the mass surveillance programs at their disposal, they have managed to enter the internal networks of German telecommunications companies.
Τα νέα αποκαλυπτικά data come from NSA documents leaked by Edward Snowden.
The NSA and GCHQ are obviously able to track companies like Deutsche Telekom, NetCologne, stellar, IABG and Cetel.
If one wonders what the purpose of such a program might be, the data gives analysts clear instructions from the mapping of the entire internet. Every device, place, time. Perhaps it is the most revealing program that has seen the light so far for clearly depicting the ultimate goal of the NSA - to have full control over everything related to the Internet.
The program allows services to create an interactive map of the global Internet in almost real time. The Der Spiegel resembles it project to Google Earth only shows global data traffic.
Treasure Map a strategic program
The Treasure Map project was not only designed to monitor devices connected to the Internet but could be used to run computer attacks and exploit networks. Its existence had been mentioned in the past, but its complete processes were not clear.
In Germany, the Treasure Map examines local cable and satellite networks. Here, there are two "autonomous systems" marked in red to indicate increased interest - one belongs to Deutsche Telekom AG and the other at NetCologne.
The latter has around 400.000 customers, while Deutsche Telekom, which is partly owned by the German state, is part of the so-called teamof providers Tier 1. Only in Germany, the company serves 60 millions of customers. At a global level, however, T-Mobile has over 230 million subscribers.
Considering that all of these networks are controlled by the NSA, through the Treasure Map, imagine the size of today's revelations.
Leaked papers also show that NSA and its co-operating secret services can monitor their networks and the data they travel through their networks, including terminal devices, from their customers. This means that there is no private life.
