Twitter is currently testing Twemojis, or Fleets emojis, in Japan.
The platform continues to expand and this time brings a new visual tool that you can use in your Fleets. For those who do not know Fleets on Twitter are messages with a lifespan of 24 hours.
On Friday, the official Twitter account in Japan announced the release of "Twemojis" or stickers for your Fleets. Immediately after came the English speaker confirmation from Sam Haveson.
You can access Twemojis (the name is probably a combination of the words "tweet" and "emoji") by clicking the smiling face on the Fleets composer, which opens the new sticker tray. If you are looking for a specific sticker, there is a search bar that you can use to find the sticker that best fits your Fleet.
Of course you can do something similar by simply using the emoji keyboard in the text tool, but Social Media Today writes that special Twemoji stickers "add a more organic and multi-layered variant, which you can also move and place more freely."
So far, it has not been announced when Twemojis will be available for Twitter in other countries.
Looking at the statistics that presented by Hootsuite, it makes sense why Twitter chose to launch Twemojis first in Japan. While the United States is the largest Twitter market, Japan is the second largest, and Twitter is also the No. 1 social platform in Japan.
