On Sunday, Yahoo passed us scared enough people with a Tweet. The tweet that has now been deleted came from his account Yahoo News and reported that an outbreak of the Ebola epidemic was observed in Atlanta, USA. He said that 145 people have been infected so far by doctors who arrived on a flight from Africa. The message was immediately spread with 900 about retweets and 125 favorites before the company managed to delete it.
The tweet was obviously not real, and it seems that the Twitter account of the company was hijacked by a hacker. 15 minutes later from the unfortunate incident, Yahoo he apologized, stating that “an unauthorized tweet containing misinformation about the Ebola virus was sent by this account,” and asked her followers to “ignore” it.
The message was deleted soon after, but quite a few users began mocking the company, reporting that the Yahoo News account finally changed the password access from “yahoo123” to something else.
The Yahoo News account has over 816.000 followers and has sent over 72.400 tweets from the date of his Twitter registration in July 2007.
