The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the final beta release of Ubuntu 18.10 Desktop, Server and Cloud products.
Following is the standard release of the release as posted in the ubuntu-announce mailing list.
Ubuntu 18.10 beta brings recent applications GNU / Linux. It uses the latest Linux 4.18, the GNOME 3.30 desktop environment, and has updated applications (Firefox 62.0 and LibreOffice 6.1).
Release notes are short, they do not contain many details, but they record a well-known topic:
Booting live images to install Ubuntu on VirtualBox can fail in some flavors and in some versions of VirtualBox. If the live session fails to start you will need to activate the "nomodeset" via the initial start menu.
