Canonical has announced the release of Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS. If you already have Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS installed, no clean install is needed again, just update your system.
The main reason for releasing a new point release is for those who want to download Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and want the ISO to have all available updates. This can save time when installing Ubuntu, as there will be fewer updates to download and install.
You can find a complete list of bug fixes in Ubuntu Discourse.
In addition to the Ubuntu update, all official flavors were also updated. These "flavors" include Kubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu MATE, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu Studio, and Xubuntu. The update is also available for Ubuntu Server and Cloud products.
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS was released in April 2022 and will offer updates for five years.
There is also Ubuntu 23.04 but it is not a long-term support release since the company will stop supporting it with updates after nine months.
If you decide to enable Extended Security Maintenance on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, you can receive updates for your system until 2032, which might be a little too much for a PC.
The next long-term support version of Ubuntu is scheduled to be released next April, however, you can upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 if you wish.
