Canonical's Brian Murray published recently a timetable for the upcoming release of the Ubuntu 22.04 LTS operating system.
While Canonical continues to prepare its upcoming release Ubuntu 21.10 (Impish Indri) which will be available on October 14, 2021, is also planning the next Ubuntu 22.04.
Ubuntu 22.04 will be no ordinary release. It will be the next series LTS (Long-Term Support from Long-Term Support), and will be supported for at least 5 years. And according to the release schedule posted by Brian Murray, development will begin one week after the release of Ubuntu 21.10, on October 21st.
The Ubuntu 22.04 LTS release schedule shows the Feature Freeze stage set for February 24, along with the Debian Import Freeze, while the Kernel Freeze and Final Freeze are scheduled for April 7th and 14th respectively.
After six months of development-work, the final version will be released on April 21, 2022.
Of course, it is too early to know the new features of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, but as a long-term supported version, Canonical will choose the highly tested packages for more stability and reliability.
