Canonical has announced the availability of a minor update for the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS series. The 24.04.1 update brings bug fixes to ARM devices along with updates to the kernel, systemd and an official upgrade path from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24.04.1.
“Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will be supported for 5 years until June 2029. If you need long-term support, we recommend that you use Ubuntu 22.04 LTS until 24.04.1 is released.
Ubuntu 23.10 users will soon be offered an automatic upgrade to 24.0 After the release of 22.04 LTS, however, the automatic upgrade will be available when 24.04.1 LTS is released, which is scheduled for August 15 and fixes the Year 2038 problem that existed in armhf. Thousands of packages have been updated to handle time using a 64-bit value instead of 32-bit values, making it possible to handle time up to 292 billion years into the future.”
The release announcement provides additional details.
