Upgrading from Ubuntu 25.10 to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is incredibly easy and quick. Simply open your update manager and you should see the option to upgrade to the latest version. Once you launch it, the update will download and apply. It might be a good idea to back up your data and take a few hours to upgrade, but overall, it’s a solid process and given today’s download speeds, it probably won’t take you even an hour of your time.

Ubuntu 25.10 “Questing Quokka” released in October 2025 and like other interim releases, it had nine months of support. Most users opt for the Long-Term Support versions, which have five years of support. The main advantage of interim releases is that you can try out new features more quickly and there may be newer third-party software packages available in the repositories.
