Canonical has released Ubuntu 26.04, which is a long-term support release. This means that the distribution will have five years of free support and an optional five additional years of paid support.
Many of the key changes in version 26.04 concern the GNOME desktop, with one major change affecting the system display:
“The Resources app now replaces the System Monitor and Power Statistics apps in the GNOME desktop. The Resources app allows you to monitor your system resource usage, including CPU, memory, GPU, network, and storage, as well as power consumption.
Compared to System Monitor, it has the following improvements: Groups processes into applications. Monitors GPU usage, including video codec and decoder usage.
Monitors Neural Processing Unit (NPU) usage. Monitors hardware statistics such as GPU frequency and memory clock.
It features a modern and accessible interface based on GTK 4 and libadwaita. The application is written in the Rust programming language.
Added a GNOME Shell search provider for snap apps: GNOME Shell's global search has gained the ability to search for available snap apps that match your search criteria. This feature can be disabled in the Search panel of the Settings app.”
Additional information can be found at release notes of the company.

Although the press releases will range from very select to rare, I said I'd pass...because sometimes the editors hide.
