The official graphic for the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS mascot “Resolute Raccoon” has been revealed.
As the upcoming release is called “Resolute Raccoon,” the monochrome mascot naturally features the Raccoon’s signature face and tail, though it’s rendered in Ubuntu’s geometric style. The tail looks like a spiraling asteroid explosion.
You'll see the new Ubuntu mascot in the new default wallpaper (to be revealed soon) as well as in various promotional materials and social media posts from Canonical and the wider Ubuntu project as we approach April.
Many people find Ubuntu's animal-themed codenames cute, while others aren't too keen. But most agree that they are an integral part of the distribution's identity. A mascot won't make the operating system faster, but it does give it a unique identity that makes a version stand out from the rest.
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS will be released on April 23, 2026 as a long-term support release. Resolute Raccoon follows Questing Quokka, which was released in October 2025.
You can download the Ubuntu 26.04 mascot as an SVG file below. You can then edit it in an image editor like Inkscape to add the mascot to custom wallpapers for your system, phone, etc.
Although the press releases will range from very select to rare, I said I'd pass...because sometimes the editors hide.
