Alongside the release of these official wallpapers, there is a selection of community wallpapers, and previews of these have been shared alongside. However, the full-size versions of the community wallpapers have not yet been consolidated into a single repository. To download them, you need to go to the announcement, click on the creator's name to be taken to the activity tab of their profile. There you can search for the full-size wallpapers.

You can see all the images from here.

For those wondering why the wallpapers feature a stingray, that’s because Ubuntu 26.10 is codenamed Stonking Stingray. Stonking is British slang “used to describe something very good, large in size, or of high quality.” Unfortunately for the British, there’s a derivative word very close to stonking that has a phallic reference in the slang, so for anyone in the UK, this Ubuntu codename might seem a bit of an odd choice.

As for the Ubuntu 26.10 release date, we’ll see a beta version released on September 24th, just a few weeks before the final release on October 15th. As a non-LTS release, this release will only be supported for nine months, so it’s best to stick with the LTS release unless you want to upgrade again in less than a year. However, for people with newer hardware, it could be a good option.
