Hackers in Maryland University Systems, 300.000 Accounts at Risk

informalHackers have violated the Maryland University systems and acquired data belonging to more than 300.000 people associated with College Park and Shady Grove campuses and universities.  

Details of the details of teachers, students and various associates have been exposed to this security breach. Data stolen includes social security numbers, names, birthdates and university IDs, as reported by ehackingnews.
Invaders were able to access a database containing information dating from 1998. In addition to data theft, hackers did not do any harm to the server hosting the site.

Wallace D. Loh, President of the University, says they are looking into the security breach in cooperation with the authorities and that they will try to do their best to prevent such attacks in the future.
