Upgrading Viber to Ubuntu

The application for pc started to be down yesterday.

What one must do if one wants to continue to her at of in an Ubuntu environment, is to re-download it from here.

  • Ubuntu will not automatically update.
  • The way I will describe below is ONLY a functional 64bit architecture.
  • For functional 32bit architecture see here.

To delete the old version of Viber, we do not have to open the terminal (CTRL + ALT + T) and write:

sudo apt-get remove viber

we write our password, press "Y" to say "YES" that we agree and the program will be uninstalled.

Then after downloading the new Viber.deb install, double-click. It will open the Ubuntu Software Center and will install automatically.

We can open it from the dash by writing "Viber".

With the new 6.0.1 version, several of the previous bugs have been fixed

  • New GUI more friendly and more like this on Android.
  • More emoticons and playback of animated stickers.
  • Fixed bug with app shortcut to tools (instead of appearing on the right it appeared on the left above the Dash) and forced us to install a separate indicator of the application.
  • Fixed tonic issue when we used to write Greek, now we can add accents without making extra settings.
  • The audio of the alerts has been corrected.

In short, it no longer has to envy any of the other desktop platforms!
