For years, the US Army has pirated copies of the software Logistics which are used to protect soldiers and transport in critical missions.
The software maker, the Apptricity, accused the military of willful copyright infringement and sued her government for $224.543.420,80 in runaway licenses operating unlicensed copies of the software for nearly a decade.

The company paratreatmentof the software filed a lawsuit against the government in the US Court of Federal Claims for copyright infringement and ignoring the company's financial claims. After a settlement, the Obama administration agreed to pay $50 million to settle the dispute.
The US government has not yet commented on the settlement, and Apptricity expects that their co-operation with the government and the military will continue professionally, even after this fiasco.
