Ο ιδρυτής της Huawei Ren Zhengfei προσπαθεί να υποβαθμίσει τον αντίκτυπο του αποκλεισμού της εταιρείας του, από την Google και την Qualcomm, at the behest of the US.
In comments that did in the Chinese media, at the headquarters of Huawei and according to state newspaper Global Times, Mr. Ren says that the disruption of business relations with the US will not significantly affect Huawei, due to the existing contingency plan need.
“At such a critical time, I am grateful to American companies, as they have contributed a lot to the development of Huawei and shown conscientiousness in the matter. As far as I know, American companies are trying to convince the American government to let them work with Huawei... We always need American-developed chipsets and we cannot rule out American products due to stenocephaly", says Mr. Ren.
But Mr Ren argued that trade restrictions would not affect Huawei's 5G growth, and that the US government "underestimates Huawei capabilities".
Huawei co-founder Ren is a 74-year-old with a low profile who almost never gives interviews, but lately all the spotlight has been on him due to the recent escalation of tensions between his company and USA.
Tension that began when the US ordered the arrest of Ms.'s daughter Meng Wanzhou which is also Huawei's CFO. Ren's tenure as an engineer in the People's Liberation Army, before Huawei was founded, has also contributed to the company's suspicion.
Google suspended Android's license to Huawei last Sunday, following orders from US President Trump, while Intel and Qualcomm said they would stop working with the Chinese telecommunications giant.
