Improving Windows 11 performance for everyone

In recent months, Microsoft has been busy patching Windows 11 with features that users have been asking the company for for a long time. An upgraded Start menu, the ability to change the location of the taskbar, new Windows Update features, and more. However, not all of the changes are visible. Some major upgrades have been happening behind the scenes, and one of those upgrades is now available to all Windows 11 users.

The so-called “Low Latency Profile” is a special performance mode that aims to make Windows 11 faster and more responsive. It increases the processor speed to the maximum when rendering UI elements or when launching applications. This means that applications start faster and things like the Start menu or settings appear on the screen much faster, although some are wary of this.

Microsoft isn't giving away many details about the new profile. The official release notes don't even mention it, with Microsoft only saying that the update "speeds up app launches and core shell experiences like the Start menu, Search, and Action Center."

You will of course have to enable it manually, as new features are gradually released.

Here's how you can do it:

Download ViVeTool by GitHub and unzip it at your convenience.
Open a command prompt window in the folder containing the ViveTool files, or navigate there with the CD command. For example, if you placed ViveTool in the C:\Vive folder, type CD C:\Vive.
Type the command vivetool /enable /id:58989092 and press Enter.
Restart your computer.

After your computer restarts, launch Task Manager or any other hardware monitoring software and check your processor performance when you open the Start menu, Action Center, etc. Your processor should reach its highest possible speed and then return to a lower level.

In addition to Low Latency Mode, the June 2026 Patch Tuesday update offers additional features, such as multi-camera mode for apps (multiple apps can use only one camera stream), Bluetooth audio sharing, improved Task Manager, and more.
