Google offers the opportunity to take a virtual tour of Versailles. You can browse the palace of Versailles, see hundreds of works art in extremely high resolution and, moreover, to use all the applications Google Arts and Culture.
What is Versailles Palace?
The Palace of Versailles is the former royal residence of France. Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette lived there when the French Revolution began 1789. And now Versailles is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the sights in France.
For those who cannot visit the Palace of Versailles Google created a virtual tour dedicated to Versailles, its history, its inhabitants and the many works of art contained in the walls of its palace.
But Versailles was already part of it Google Arts and Culture app. So with the new virtual tour there are now 18 new virtual exhibitions with total 340 artwork, such as members of the royal family, archival photos of Versailles and others.
Virtual browsing is available as an application via Steam and is called VersaillesVR. It requires you to have one of the following headset virtual reality: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or Valve Index.
