British police: Emotion recognition system

British police are preparing to test a facial recognition system that projects people's moods by analyzing them .

Lincolnshire police will be able to use the system to search for specific moods and facial expressions, according to the London Times. It will also allow people looking for hats and glasses to carry, or carry bags and umbrellas.

Funding for comes from Interior. One millionof the police said to the Times that all videos will be deleted after 31 days. The ministry also said it would conduct an investigation to assess the protection of human rights and privacy before the trial before giving the green light.

However, there are already critics who say the system will infringe on staff .

"Διατίθενται τεράστια χρηματικά ποσά από το Υπουργείο Εσωτερικών για αυτήν την τεχνολογία που αντιμετωπίζει νομικά προβλήματα, καθώς παραβιάζει τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα", said Silkie Carlo, director of the Big Brother Watch civil liberties group.

Police have not yet explained how the system will work. AI-enabled emotional crawling is estimated to be a $ 20 billion market, but there is very little scientific evidence that this technology really works.

"Ταυτόχρονα με την ανάπτυξη αυτών των τεχνολογιών, μεγάλος αριθμός μελετών δείχνουν ότι δεν υπάρχουν ουσιαστικές ενδείξεις ότι οι άνθρωποι έχουν αυτήν τη συνεπή σχέση μεταξύ του συναισθήματος που αισθάνονται και του τρόπου με τον οποίο φαίνεται το πρόσωπό τους" ανέφερε ο συν-ιδρύτρια του AI Now Kate Crawford στο BBC στα at the end of last year.
