According to a BBC report, the network in question makes use of massive computing power possibilities of supercomputers to help SMEs improve their productivity and innovation.
Economic development and job creation work is the aim of a supercomputer network, on which six universities in Wales, as well as private sector companies, are working together.
According to a BBC report, this network exploits the huge computing capabilities of supercomputers to help small and medium enterprises improve their productivity and innovation.
The whole project is funded by the governments of Wales and the United Kingdom, as well as by the EU.
Supercomputers are used by large companies for storage and analysis data, performing calculations at much faster speeds than "conventional" computers. This particular network of supercomputers will be accessible to smaller companies, who will be able to use it for their own purposes.
The universities that collaborate in the project are: Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff, Swansea, University of South Wales and University of Wales, Trinity Saint David. Also involved in the program Fujitsu and Microsoft.
