Whatever we live in the age of technology, it is sometimes difficult even for the authorities to keep up with its demands. For the past eight years, the Central Vigilance Commission, an India-based body investigating police corruption, has accumulated hundreds of complaints about Delhi police over its lost password.
According to The Indian Express, the agency forwarded the allegations to the Delhi police station, but nothing has been done for at least eight years.
None of the corruption complaints has been evaluated by the police department because they do not know the computer's password !!!. 667 pending complaints, some of which are dated by 2006.
Eventually, the Central Vigilance Committee asked the department for a report on the long delay and found that no one there knew how to access the system of complaints.
Finally in January, two senior officers received the appropriate education about how the system works and will work to address outstanding complaints.
A police official said the incident was due to a "technical problem" and promised that all public complaints would be dealt with. However, it seems more like a case of complete helplessness and indifference.
