Ενώ πλησιάζει η 10η επέτειος από την πρώτη παρουσία του WikiLeaks στον παγκόσμιο ιστό, ο ιδρυτής της ιστοσελίδαJulian Assange published a list of companies and organizations that could be the site's next targets,
Of course, a name from Silicon Valley stood out: Google.
At the moment, no one knows what WikiLeaks could do about Google. But we should expect that any complaint of company malfunctions could cause political disturbances.
Assange for a long time bsays Google as a sort of political organization, which uses its power apparently and secretly to influence international events.
Assange had extensively described these relationships, with information derived from classified documents published in a WikiLeaks book by 2014 entitled: "When Google Met WikiLeaks."
Ο Assange ανέφερε τη άποψή του μετά την συνάντηση που είχε με τον Eric Schmidt το 2011 στην Αγγλία για να του πάρει μια συνέντευξη. Ο Schmidt συνοδευόταν από την Lisa Shields, ένα στέλεχος του υπουργείου Εξωτερικών των ΗΠΑ, και τον Jared Cohen, διευθυντής τότε στο think-tank της Google, “Google Ideas,” και πρώην υπάλληλος του State Department.
Over the years, Assange has begun to look suspiciously at Google's links with the US Department of Foreign Affairs, as well as the company's efforts to act overseas in the context of Cohen's activities.
Since then, Google Ideas has been transformed into "Jigsaw," a technology incubator that is “dedicated to understanding global challenges and application technological solutions.” It is officially a subsidiary of Google's parent company Alphabet. Cohen is co-founder and chairman. and Schmidt is also a co-founder.
So, even if WikiLeaks is released, it will be quite interesting, as it will probably affect Google's policy or other issues related to taxes, antitrust, and privacy in Europe.
