In a recent project, we needed the font used by Wikipedia in its logo. After a lot of searching we found out that he uses Hoefler Text.
When Jonathan Hoefler founded his company in 1989, digital printing was in its infancy. Few of the major fonts had been converted to digital form, and the procase of young people was done with slow and hesitant steps.
Adobe gradually began to produce several prototypes, which it called "old-fashioned elements" and "small-cap" or "old-style figures" and "small caps."
The Hoefler Text font, came to revive a series of other traditions that were once the focus of print: The fonts ligature sets, and engraved capitals of the twentieth century along with the old arabesques gave Hoefler Text added punctuation and lowercase italics, extending the scope of digital printing beyond the United States, as it contained foreign symbols and tones.
Jonathan Hoefler then created the homonymous font that would later be used by the largest digital encyclopedia.
The font today is available for free to anyone interested in using it on their computer. Download the files and open it.
If you don't know how to install it, things are very simple. Double click on archive that we list below and "install" from the upper left corner of the window that will open.
