Windows 10-11 reset and recovery problems

Microsoft released the Patch Tuesday updates for supported versions of Windows exactly a week ago. While they contained many fixes and improvements, especially for Windows 11, there have been many reports of some issues. Installation errors, data corruption incidents , and faulty Event Viewer logs.

Now, Microsoft has confirmed a relatively major issue in some versions of Windows.

In an update to the Windows Release Health dashboard , Microsoft began tracking a new issue where users reported that restore and recovery options were experiencing issues on Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers after installing the August Patch Tuesday ( KB5063709 ).

If you try to reset or recover a device running an older (but still supported) version of Windows 10 or Windows 11, you may encounter issues. So be careful with System > Recovery > Reset My PC or System > Recovery > Fix problems using Windows Update or even RemoteWipe CSP.

The platforms affected:

Windows 11, version 23H2
Windows 11, version 22H2
Windows 10, version 22H2
Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021
Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2019

Apparently this bug is quite widespread, as Microsoft is preparing a hotfix that will be released before next Tuesday.
