Some users of the stable version of the Windows 10 were prompted to install a preview build of the upcoming Redstone 5 update, despite not being enrolled in the Windows program Insider.
A notice that appeared in the bottom-right corner of the screen told users that it was available with a suggested "New Preview Build Available," and suggested that they download and install Windows Insider Preview Build 17751. The notification had two options: update and details.
According to Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager of the proletterWindows Insider said that this particular problem is not common and that it appeared on a small number of computers.
Η Microsoft finally decided to turn off alerts completely during its investigation into the incident, so no alerts will appear in the production ring at all.
Windows 10 Redstone 5 will be released as October 2018 Update, and is currently in the final stages of development as Microsoft plans to sign the RTM build this month.
If everything goes according to the plan, we will have the final build sometime at the end of September, while the appearance of ISO for everyone will begin next month.
