The 21H1 version of Windows 10 will be a small update and will be released in the first half of 2021, probably between May and June.
Just like the previous version 20H2 (October 2020 Update), the first Windows 10 update of the year will be small and will bring only a few modifications.
No major new features will be added to the 21H1 version of Windows 10 and will only be released with security and "quality" enhancements, such as a new feature for Windows Hello and minor business modifications.
As it turns out Microsoft has already started to try the new experience package for Windows 10 21H1. With the new experience-features package, Microsoft plans to bring new features to Windows 10 in addition to the "21H1" update.
Microsoft breaks Windows core features into smaller downloads, and you'll be able to download the experience pack without installing a huge feature update.
This could allow you to download small new features for File Explorer, Settings, etc. without having to wait for the Sun Valley update.
Today, Microsoft released Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3030.0 to those running Windows 10 in version 21H1. This update brings improvements to the keyboard and will also improve the reliability of the handwriting input panel.
In the next update, File Explorer will be updated with support for the built-in screen tool, so you can paste instant screenshots, and File Explorer will automatically generate a name.
Last year, Microsoft said it had begun testing this new process and would initially include minor improvements. In the coming months, the Redmond company plans to make major changes through the experience packages.
This will of course be a remarkable one change on how to update Windows 10 and maybe the company will finally be able to reduce the possibility of major bugs that we expect after every update.
