Windows 10 delete the DumpStack file

On Windows 10 or 2004 or 20H2, there is a DumpStack.log.tmp file that slows down the computer.

You will find the file in the path C: \ "DumpStack.log.tmp".

What does the DumpStack.log.tmp file do?

The file first appeared in . Used when Windows needs to write a dump. It is a hidden system file in the root of the C:\ drive or drive where Windows is installed. You can read about dump stacking from here and from here.

The file cannot be deleted by default because it is under the control of the operating system. THE in the file but can be disabled from the registry. To do this, follow the path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl

You should open the registry editor with administrator rights (search for regedit / right click on the icon – run as administrator). There are two DWORD values :

EnableLogFile = 00000001
LogLevel = fffffffd

If the DWORD 32-bit EnableLogFile value is set to 0 and you restart Windows 10, logging in the file will stop. You can then delete the DumpStack.log.tmp file.
