Windows 10 BSOD & print theme repair

The cumulative updates of Windows 10 that released in Marchseriously provoke him in some people. At the moment it is not yet clear how widespread the problem is, but it was first reported by its users consumer edition of Windows 10 and Windows Server when their devices suddenly displayed the “APC_INDEX_MISMATCH” error.

In addition to the blue screens, users reported that their printers could not print, apparently due to some kind of incompatibility in the March cumulative updates.

A Microsoft spokesman confirmed that the company is aware of the Blue Screens of Death issues and that this is due to the following cumulative updates:

KB5000802 (version 2004 / 20H2)
KB5000803 (Windows server)
KB5000808 (version 1909)
KB5000809 (version 1809)
KB5000822 (version 1803).

These cumulative updates show the “APC_INDEX_MISMATCH” error and the “win32kfull.sys” Blue Screen of Death.

Microsoft he says that the error only affects devices with type 3 printer drivers. It does not affect type 4 printer drivers. So before applying the cumulative updates, Microsoft recommends that you verify your printer driver type:

In Windows Search, type printmanagement.msc.
In the Print Manager window, open the print servers.
Click on "computer name".
Select Printers to see the printer type (Driver Type) for the installed drivers.

Before following the steps above, you must have the Print Management Console enabled in Windows 10. To activate the console, look for the Print Management Console in Windows Search. On the Options screen, click "Add Mode" and activate the Print Management Console.

If you see Type 3 printer drivers in the Print Management Console, you should either skip the update or prepare for blue screens.

If you are already using the latest cumulative update and are experiencing a blue screen issue, Microsoft recommends that you follow these steps:

Open a bar window (with admin privileges)
Run the following command after replacing the “KX driver for printing ”with the name of your printer:

rundll32 printui.dll, PrintUIEntry / Xg / n “KX driver for Universal printing”

The above command will open the printer UI dialog box. In the field of features, if it does not say '' run the following command to enable manual printing manually:

rundll32 printui.dll, PrintUIEntry / Xs / n "KX driver for Universal printing" attributes + direct

Close the windows.

Microsoft has also confirmed that it is preparing another update and that a solution will be released next week.
