Windows 10 May 2020 Update what it takes to run the operating system

The Windows 10 May 2020 Update has been released since yesterday and you can upgrade checking for updates in Windows Update or using Media Creation Tool.

However, before proceeding with the installation you should check the specifications set by Microsoft, but in the known problems it has says the company.

Let's look at the basic system requirements for running Windows 10 in version 2004:

Processor:
Processor 1 gigahertz (GHz) ή faster or System on a Chip technology (SoC)
RAM:
1 gigabyte (GB) for 32 bit or 2 GB for 64 bit
Hard disk space:
16 GB for 32 bit operating system or 32 GB for 64 bit operating system
Graphics card:
DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
Screen:
800 × 600
Internet connection:
An Internet connection is required to install updates and to download and use certain features. Windows 10 Pro in S mode, Windows 10 Pro Education in S mode, Windows 10 Education in S mode and Windows 10 Enterprise in S mode require an Internet connection during the initial setup of the device (first contact or OOBE), as well as a Microsoft account (MSA) or Azure Activity Directory (AAD) account. Switching from Windows 10 to S mode also requires an Internet connection. Learn more about S mode here.

The most notable change for the Windows 10 May 2020 Update is the storage requirement, as from this version you need at least 32 GB to install. This makes sense, as Microsoft has added a new feature and the operating system needs more storage space. So before you get started you should consider that you need a larger 32GB hard drive + the space you need for your own files.

No Internet connection required for Windows 10, but it is recommended for updates.

Installing Windows in S mode, on the other hand, requires an Internet connection, according to the company, not only for the initial installation, but also for a possible upgrade to the full version of Windows 10.

And of course, there are features that require special hardware. For example, if you want to activate Windows Hello, you need special hardware for biometric testing, such as a face recognition camera that is certified for this function.

You can see the full list of specifications set by Microsoft from here.

Microsoft has always advised users of older versions of Windows, such as Windows 7, to purchase a new computer to take advantage of the Windows 10 experience, as they are built for next-generation hardware.
