Windows 10 is no longer supported on this computer

Windows 10 is no longer supported on this computer: it is an error message that some Windows 10 users may see when updating to a newer version of the operating system.

As you know, Microsoft has left behind the classic service pack, an update to older versions of Windows.

Windows as a Service often features Windows 10 is no longer supported on this PC

Windows 10-based systems will continue to run but will no longer receive new updates, including security updates.

Support for the first version of Windows 10, for example, expired in May of 2017.

What happens;

Windows 10 devices, with the exception of devices that have the long-service service, should be updated regularly for new feature release releases. This is not very different from previous service packs that were released by Microsoft.

Systems without the latest service pack could not get new updates.

Where is the problem:

If Windows 10 can not be upgraded to a new version that adds new features, you may see the error: Windows 10 is no longer supported on this computer.

This has begun to happen to some users of the Windows 10 Creators Update. Ed Bott confirms the problem in Zdnet declaring that it only affects systems with Intel Clover Trail processors.

When you try to upgrade a computer running Clover Trail to the “new” Windows 10 Creators Update, the installer returns error code 0xC1900209, which means “the it cannot process the compatibility scan to install the update…. Incompatible software is preventing the upgrade process”.

But the same error occurs on other devices. Devices using Atom Z2760, Atom Z2520, Atom Z2560 and Atom Z2580 processors will display when upgrading to Windows 10 Creators Update. These computers were originally released with Windows 8 operating system two years ago. When they were released, they received the update in Windows 8.1 and were eligible for a free upgrade when Windows 10 was released.

Users and administrators who upgraded these machines to Windows 10 found that everything went well until Windows 10 Creators Update was released.

At the moment there does not seem to be any way to resolve the issue, which means that these devices will remain in the same build - version Anniversary Update - which Microsoft will no longer support from 2018 according to the company's support plans.

Of course there is a problem.

Not only because some users can not upgrade to a new build of Window 10 but also why they will not be able to receive security updates. Also, all of the above shows that Microsoft has not designed how to handle the hardware incompatibilities that will occur from time to time.

An option might be a downgrade of the system to an earlier version of Windows, but Microsoft has ruled out this possibility.

We currently don't know what Microsoft is planning for it . A support page on the Acer site shows that Microsoft is working with the company to find a solution for Intel Clover Trail processors, but to date there are no newer ones.
