The Windows 10 approaching the next big milestone of 1,5 billion, with Microsoft announcing that the operating system useson 1,3 billion devices every month.
The information came from Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, who announced the company's profits in the third quarter of April 21 on April 27.
Microsoft expected Windows 10 to be in one billion devices until the summer of 2018, but did not achieve the goal. One billion active devices came two years later than originally expected in March 2020.
Windows 10 reached 800 million active devices in March 2019 and 600 million in November 2017. Progress has been relatively slow, but since then operating system adoption now seems to be growing faster than before, and one of the reasons is work from home due to the pandemic.
If you watch Microsoft move, you may have already noticed that the company has shifted its focus to other products (Azure and Office) while the development of the Windows platform has slowed down. The last two function updates focused on businesses with little or no consumer change.
However, Microsoft has confirmed that it intends to turn Windows into a product that its customers will love.
"I want to move Windows from people needing it - and knowing they need it - to loving and wanting it," said Microsoft's Panos Panay.
Microsoft is reportedly preparing a new version of Windows codenamed "Sun Valley", Also known as"the new Windows“. The Sun Valley update or the new Windows will be released in October or November. Microsoft will start showing us the new features of the operating system soon, probably at the Build 2021 developer conference.
The Windows 10 Sun Valley update is expected to bring a new one dark mode, βελτιωμένη Εξερεύνηση files with modern icons, "flying" menus and a new Start menu.
The company is preparing a special event or session at Build 2021 with theme “Τι νέο υπάρχει για τα Windows” την τελευταία εβδteam of May.
