Microsoft has just released the new Windows 10 preview build 11099, which is the second edition of Redstone and the first of the new year.
The company doesn't seem to have made any big changes in this build, and Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows program Insider, stated that the same will happen for future releases, as developers improve performance and fix whatever errors possible.
"As with the previous version, this build does not include major notable changes or new features. "Our focus was on structural improvements to OneCore, which is the common core of Windows across all devices," Aul said in a post.
“The code refactoring and other technical features we've changed to optimize OneCore are nearing the point where we'll be ready to start testing new features and improvements. It will take a few more builds before we see really noticeable changes appear.”
Aul also reiterated that Microsoft will soon begin to build new builds in the Windows Insider program soon, explaining that those who are already registered on Fast Ring will notice builds running more frequently.
This obviously means that the users who don't want to deal with bugs that will appear in the new test builds should switch to the Slow Ring.
Redstone is the code name of the next large version of Windows 10 that will be released in the summer of 2016 and will include important new features.
The new version is usually released on Internet from unofficial sources, a few hours after it was made available by Microsoft.
