Last month, Statcounter reported a notable decline in Windows 11 market share, and the trend continued throughout April 2024. After reaching an all-time high of 28,16% in February 2024, Windows 11 plummeted below the mark of 26%.
According to Statcounter, in April 2024, Windows 11 lost 0,97 points, falling from 26,68% to 25,65%. All of those users seemingly switched to Windows 10 after the operating system crossed the 70% mark for the first time since September 2023, gaining 0,96 points.
Interestingly, Windows 11 continues to lose users. Even Windows 8 and 8.1, which are not considered among the best versions of Windows, fell only after the release of their successors. It should be noted that Statcounter is not 100% accurate in its estimates, but a drop of almost 3 points for a product with over 1 billion devices is quite a difference.
Some argue that Windows 11 offers little to no upgrade benefits, especially in light of Microsoft discontinuing some of the system's unique features, such as the Windows Subsystem for Android. Add to that an ever-increasing number of ads, and you have an operating system that has failed to win over its audience.
Windows 10: 70,03% (+0,96)
Windows 11: 25,65% (-0,97)
Windows 7: 3% (-0,04)
Windows 8.1: 0,53% (+0,09)
Windows 8: 0,36% (+0,08)
