Stop the spying of Windows 10 without any third-party tools

It is no longer a secret for anyone who uses them that the new operating of Microsoft, collects a lot of private information that it sends back to the company via telemetry data.

Many users have expressed their indignation with this behavior of Windows 10 and are constantly looking for ways to stop it.Windows 10 spy

Although the best way is to install Linux, for those who insist on Windows 10 or Windows in general, we will now describe a completely different way to prevent Windows 10 from collecting your sensitive data without any third party applications.

Below we will see how it is done using only the built-in Windows Firewall.

In our previous article, we describe extensively what telemetry is and how Microsoft collects your data.

What is Telemetry using Windows 10 and not just

Before we begin, we should mention that Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users should not be complacent as Microsoft has released some telemetry updates and of data and in said operating systems.

Telemetry and Data Collection and in Windows 7 and 8

Now let's see how we can prevent spying from Windows 10 using Windows Firewall only.

The basic idea behind this method is to cut access to the known list of Microsoft servers by using the appropriate Windows Firewall rules.

This means we will not use third-party tools.

Let's look at the example below

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name = "telemetry_watson.telemetry.microsoft.com" dir = out action = block remoteip = 65.55.252.43,65.52.108.29 enable = yes

The above command adds and activates a new rule that blocks outgoing connections to the "telemetry_watson.telemetry.microsoft.com" server.

The blocking will be done in these IP addresses: 65.55.252.43,65.52.108.29.

This command must be run on a command line with administrator privileges. The process is quite tedious but necessary if you want to block all the company's telemetry servers.

We will try to make it easier. First we'll give you the list containing one of the commands to see how much work it needs, and then we'll give you a script that you can run automatically with PowerShell.
