Microsoft has issued a new 30-day reminder for the upcoming end of servicing (EoS) of Windows 11 editions 21H2 (Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise) and 22H2 (Home and Pro).
The company has said that an automatic forced update to version 23H2 will begin with the next Patch Tuesday (October 8, 2024) to keep devices up to date with the latest security updates.
On the Windows website, Microsoft he says:
On October 8, 2024, Windows 11 version 21H2 (Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise) and Windows 11 version 22H2 (Home and Pro) will reach end of support. The upcoming October 2024 security update, which will be released on October 8, 2024, will be the last available update for these versions. After this date, devices running these versions will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates that contain protections against the latest threats.
And it continues:
To keep you protected and productive, Windows Update will automatically start a feature update on Windows 11 Home and Pro devices that aren't managed by IT departments when they're nearing the end of maintenance. By moving to Windows 11 version 23H2 your device will be supported and receive monthly security-critical updates.
Although it's been almost a year since Windows 11 23H2 was released, the operating system is not flawless, at least on some system configurations.
