Windows 11 24H2 finally has a new Media Creation Tool

If you're planning to do a clean install of Windows 11 24H2, now is the time. Microsoft has updated the Media Creation Tool, which not only lets you perform an in-place upgrade without losing any personal files or folders, but also lets you create new Windows 11 ISO files of version 24H2.

The Media Creation Tool (MCT) was updated shortly after the June 2025 Cumulative Update. It now downloads Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.4349, which contains the latest Patch Tuesday (a mandatory security update for the operating system).

It's also worth mentioning that Windows 11 KB5060842 is the same update that caused issues with Fortnite and other Easy Anti-Cheats on PCs. This update was later replaced by a version, KB5063060, which fixed issues with Fortnite.

Now you shouldn't worry, Build 26100.4349, now installed via MCT, won't cause any of these problems.

So if you're running Windows 11 version 23H2 and plan to upgrade, you can use the new Media Creation Tool.

Microsoft plans to end support for Windows 11 23H2 on November 11, 2025, and some computers are already being forced to upgrade to version 24H2.

You can also wait until October 2025 for Windows 11 25H2 and do a clean install of this year's update using the new ISO files from Microsoft.

Incidentally, the Media Creation Tool update also means that Windows 10 users can go straight to Windows 11 24H2, as long as they meet Microsoft's hardware requirements.
